Susan Perkins is a member of the Reach team based in Cape Town. Susan earned her Master’s Degree in Community Health Management from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA (USA) and has many years of experience supporting research and programmatic endeavours in academic medicine.
Susan served as a US Peace Corps Community Health Volunteer from 2012 to 2014 in Limpopo, South Africa where she became involved with the Rheumatic Heart Disease Global Registry (REMEDY) project. It was then that she developed a passion for Africa, and working with people living with RHD and their health care providers in the rural areas. Her duties as Reach Programme Manager entail managing the RHD Action Small Grants Programme and supporting PLWRHD and front line health workers from across the globe to document, promote and facilitate the inclusion of their insights, experiences and contributions in the fight against RHD.
